Wilbert “Bill” Heinz, 93, a resident of Glenwood Place Senior Living in Vancouver, self-published his autobiography entitled “Nola: My Collected Memoirs.”
Heinz selected his favorites from the memoirs he’s been writing for years about his life and adventures. He started life in small-town upstate New York, where he was orphaned at a young age and raised by his beloved schoolteacher aunt.
His philosophical good nature and sense of adventure led him not only to enjoy everything his childhood had to offer, but to light out for California after his service in World War II. There he learned some more life lessons, built some houses, made interesting friends, and finally fell in love, during times lost to us now but pretty darn good while they lasted. Included is Heinz history of his grandfather’s service as a soldier in the Civil War, based on wartime diaries still preserved in his family.
The memoirs are written by Heinz himself in his very own voice, and an honest, warm and engaging one it is.
The book is available on Amazon as a Kindle eBook for the introductory price of 99 cents.
